European Commission Lowers Anti-Dumping Duties on Turkish Cold-Rolled Steel

The European Commission has lowered anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled flat steel products originating in Turkey, according to OPIS. The revised duties are set out in a document dated October 16, 2026, adjusting the trade measures affecting these imports into the European market.

The most immediate commercial implication is a potential reduction in the duty component of import costs for affected products. For European importers, this could change the relative cost of Turkish offers. For Turkish steel exporters, it could create room to compete on delivered prices or retain more margin, depending on how the reduction is reflected in sales terms.

A lower duty does not automatically translate into an equivalent fall in buyers’ final prices. The outcome will depend on exporters’ quotations, freight costs and the terms of individual transactions. The first effects may therefore appear in purchasing calculations and price negotiations before any broader change in trade volumes becomes evident.

The adjustment supports a narrow conclusion: the anti-dumping duty burden on the affected Turkish cold-rolled steel has been reduced. It does not, by itself, establish that European imports will rise or that market prices will decline. The revised rates, their application to individual suppliers and the timing of their implementation will be central to assessing the commercial impact. Subsequent offers and orders will help show whether the change translates into stronger demand for Turkish material.
